Gold is a British pay-television channel owned by UKTV and BBC Studios. It provides comedy programming in the UK and Ireland. It rarely airs reruns of Red Dwarf, whilst newer episodes air on Dave.

History

Gold was launched in November 1992 as UK Gold, an acronym for Go On Laugh Daily. In GOLD’s 2008 rebrand, the announcers for each programme would refer to the channel as G.O.L.D. The acronym was also written beside GOLD's 2008 logo, but this was changed in 2009. The channel then dropped the acronym in 2012, becoming GOLD. In 2014, GOLD rebranded again, commissioned by Red Bee Media, along with its sister channels.
