Ziggy Briceman was an eccentric and flamboyant human male from 24th century Earth who went on to become the chief lawmaker aboard SS Enconium. He was best remembered for outlawing all forms of criticism aboard his vessel.
Ziggy encountered the boys from Red Dwarf when Enconium was thrust three million years into Deep Space by a Time Wave, and the Dwarfers came aboard it in an effort to prevent the ship from crashing.

- In the DVD special features, actor Jamie Chapman says that his character Ziggy Briceman was indeed written in the script as being the captain of SS Enconium. This explains how Ziggy was able to give orders, and make laws, on a ship where there no apparent command structure.

- It has been claimed that Ziggy's audacious uniform is the same one that was worn by Vulva (David Walliams), the performance artist in Series 1, Episode 3 of Spaced (1999).[1]
